Blue Kahunas Tiki Bar

Double Deuce Lounge Sydney
Double Deuce Lounge is the new bar from Ramblin’ Rascal team, Sebastian Cosmo Soto, Dardan Shervashidze and Charlie Lehmann. Inspired by 70’s porn chic and a little bit of Swayze a’la Roadhouse, the team will be mixing up libations inspired from late 60’s and 70’s along with some modern twists. “Expect to see some version on a Cosmo in there somewhere.” Double Deuce Lounge will be located at the former site of Bouche on Bridge, 6 Bridge St Sydney and is slated to open at the end of March.
Scout Sydney
London’s Scout bar, ranked at number 26 in the 50 World’s Best Bars 2018 is opening on level two (top floor) of The Dolphin Hotel in Surry Hills. Scout Sydney will be the first international outpost for Scout by European Bartender of the Year, Matt Whiley. He will be bringing his own creative spin on ferments in cocktails. Scout Sydney is set to open on 28 February 2019.
Corretto Dee Why
Corretto, the first venue by award-winning bartender now Owner/Operator Kurtis Bosley is opening in Dee Why. The European neighbourhood eatery and bar is set to explore and challenge European drink trends with an Australian native flair such as the house Martini with sea lettuce distillate, burnt lemon and sea breeze mist. Corretto opens at 24 The Strand, Dee Why in April.
Mary’s Underground
Not a cocktail bar but well worth the mention as a welcome addition to Sydney’s nightlife, Sydney’s iconic live music venue The Basement is re-opening as Mary’s Underground. The late-night haunt will be a restaurant and live music venue by Jake Smyth and Kenny Graham, the duo behind Mary’s Newtown, The Lansdowne and The Unicorn. Upstairs will be a casual bar while the lower floor will offer a more intimate experience. Mary’s Underground will be located at 7 Macquarie Place, Sydney and is set to open in May.
The Old Clare Rooftop Pool Bar
Perched above the Old Clare Hotel in Chippendale, The Old Clare Rooftop Pool Bar has officially reopened. The space features a 14-metre lap pool and a cocktail bar with views across Sydney’s skyline. The Old Clare Rooftop Bar is open Wednesday & Thursday – 3pm-9:30pm, Friday-Sunday – 12pm – 9:30pm.

CocktailSafe
Ever wondered if your cocktail ingredients are safe to consume? CocktailSafe is a new website dedicated to safety in cocktail ingredients and techniques. The project by drinks writer Camper English with Avery Glasser as advisor is supported by a grant from the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation. The site is live but still under construction and should prove to be a valuable ongoing resource. Check it out here.
