As Cocktails & Bars celebrates two years today, we take a look at the major highlights.
Cocktails & Bars launched on the 3rd August 2015 as a niche website dedicated to cocktail culture and the discerning drinker. During the first year, Cocktails & Bars experienced many highlights with several articles going viral locally and internationally.
In just 4 months after the launch, we were published in Executive Style by Fairfax Media with an article on the top 10 cocktail trends of 2015. We have partnered with several leading international and local brands, and in less than two years, our instagram has grown organically to over 25,000 followers.
Cocktails & Bars was the first in Australia to feature Seedlip Distilled Non-Alcoholic Spirit in October 2015, (now available in Australia) and Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto in October 2016, a product which has recently won Best New Spirit or Cocktail Ingredient at Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards 2017. The focus on cocktail culture spans from the best Australian and international bars to bringing the bar experience home. We brought you How to Set Up a Home Bar, a 5 part series from building a home bar to stocking it with essential spirits, modifiers, bar tools and glassware.
Our Meet the People series launched in November 2015 with an up and coming bartender who has since gone to win World Class Australia in 2017. We had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing many local and international industry professionals such as Emmanuel Delafon, President Directeur Général Chartreuse; Ger Buckley, Jameson Master Cooper, Guillermo Erickson Sauza of Tequila Fortaleza, Marc Darroze of Darroze Armagnac and closer to home, Pernod Ricard Women in Whisky.
In 2017, we launched the ever-growing international bars directory followed by the Australian Distillery Directory which lists distilleries state by state. We expanded the cocktails and spirits content to the How to /DIY series (now Cocktail Projects) and Essential Guides to Spirits, which have proven to be very popular and useful resources.
Today, we’re looking ahead with anticipation but tonight, you’ll find us at our favourite spot, at the bar.
