If you’re new to making cocktails at home, one of the easiest cocktails to batch and have on hand is the Negroni.
The Negroni is an equal parts cocktail, a combination of gin, sweet vermouth and Campari. Add them in equal measures to a glass swing top bottle, factor in dilution, store it in the fridge and you’ll have Negronis ready to serve whenever you feel like one.
We’ve converted dilution for pre-batched cocktails in a previous article and it’s worth getting acquainted with the principles and method which you can easily do at home. Here’s how to batch a Negroni.
How to Batch a Negroni
Makes 1 litre, 10 individual drinks
Ingredients
- 250ml gin
- 250ml sweet vermouth
- 250ml Campari
- 250ml water
Equipment: 1 litre swing top glass bottle, funnel, measuring jug
Glassware: rocks glass
Garnish: orange slice
Method
Place the funnel in the clean glass bottle and pour in 20ml each of gin, sweet vermouth, Campari and water. Secure the lid on the bottle and give it a gently swirl to mix all the ingredients. Store in the fridge until ready to use.
To serve, pour 100ml of the pre-batched Negroni in a rocks glass over ice. Garnish with an orange slice.
