How to Support Bars During COVID-19
With the outbreak of the coronavirus resulting in the closure of bars, here are some ways that you can support them during COVID-19.
- Cocktail Home Delivery – Several bars across the country are offering ready to drink cocktails either as takeaway or as a cocktail home delivery. Some also have on offer a selection of 50ml drams and whisky flights which can be purchased and enjoyed at home, as well as a food menu. Take a look at these cocktails from Isabel Bondi, Yuzu, Savoury Coffee and Riberry Gimlet shown above.
- Purchase Merchandise – Always wanted to wear your favourite bars’ T-shirt or cap? This the time to make that purchase online and directly support the venue. Check if the bar has an online store or take a look at Hospo Threads which we featured earlier.
- Attend Virtual Tastings – Various bars are hosting a series of virtual and interactive tastings, masterclasses and cocktail making events which you can join at home. Keep an eye out on their social media channels.
- Purchase a Gift Voucher – If you’re looking for gift ideas, you can purchase vouchers which you can redeem once the bars re-open.
Master’s Keep Cornerstone Rye
Wild Turkey has launched Master’s Keep Cornerstone Rye in Australia, the fourth release in the Master’s Keep series with the oldest rye ever released by Wild Turkey. The expression was crafted by Master Distiller Eddie Russell who picked from among his oldest #4 alligator char barrels, each with rye aged between nine and 11 years.
At 54.5% ABV, Master’s Keep Cornerstone Rye is described as having aromas of oaky spice, earthy and bridle leather with a hint of liquorice. The expression delivers notes of toffee and vanilla along with cocoa, baked apples, sweet corn and black pepper. Only 3000 bottles of this limited release are available in Australia at RRP $250.
Bar Trigona Wins Sustainable Bar Award 2020
Asia’s 50 Best Bars has announced that Bar Trigona in Malaysia has won the Sustainable Bar Award 2020 for the second consecutive year. The bar opened in 2018 and garnered quick recognition for its innovative and eco-friendly cocktails. It works closely with four local farms to source for most of its ingredients regardless of their appearance. Fruits are delivered in bulk and without plastic packaging. Every part of the fruit is used and anything over-ripe is used to make fermented juices. Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2020 will be unveiled in a digital countdown on 14th May, from 7pm Singapore time.
Campari’s Shaken Not Broken
Campari Australia has committed $500,000 in value support through the launch of ‘Shaken Not Broken’, which offers venues across Australia a contactless cocktail delivery and collection service, in addition to product donations, packaging materials, marketing toolkits, and media exposure. Bars can register their interest via the link here.
