The Just Peachy whisky cocktail is a take on the old fashioned consisting mainly of whisky with peach liqueur and bitters. For the choice of whisky, it can be any entry type single malt with a fruity and spicy character, Irish Whiskey or a blended malt with orchard fruit, honey sweetness and a hint of spice.
The cocktail is simple, classic and hits the right balance of fruit and spice. A smoking cinnamon quill is used to smoke the glass, imparting a smoky aroma and warm spice notes which complement the peach and fruity flavours of the whisky. The cinnamon also acts as a garnish and can be used to stir the drink.
Just Peachy Whisky Cocktail Recipe
Ingredients
- 60 ml whisky
- 20 ml peach liqueur
- 2 dashes of whisky barrel aged bitters
Glassware: old fashioned glass
Garnish: cinnamon quill
Method
Light one end of a cinnamon stick until it is smouldering. Place on a heat safe plate and cover it with the old fashioned glass until the smoke swirls and coats the glass.
In a mixing glass filled with ice, add the whisky, peach liqueur and bitters and stir until chilled. Strain into the old fashioned glass over a large ice cube or ice sphere. Garnish with the cinnamon quill for additional smoky aroma and warm spice notes.
