Gin Old Fashioned
The Old Fashioned may be more popular with whisk(e)y but if you look up Harry Craddock’s Savoy Cocktail book which was first published in 1930, you’ll see in his recipe he mentions that “This cocktail can be made with Brandy, Gin, Rum, etc., instead of Rye Whiskey.” All you need is a good measure of gin, 15 ml of sugar syrup or one lump of sugar with a splash of water, 2 dashes of Angostura bitters and an orange peel for garnish.
