Mr Black Coffee Liqueur is an artisanal coffee liqueur founded by distiller Philip Moore of Distillery Botanica in Erina (Moore’s Vintage Dry Gin) and designer Tom Baker whose previous experience in the industry includes Beam and Pernod Ricard. Their project was a crowd-funded success and the resultant liqueur was awarded the gold medal at the 2012 International Wine & Spirits Competition in London.
Mr Black is made using the slow-drip method to create more robust and sweeter style of coffee that celebrates the bean. The sleek and sexy bottle design rewards you the more you consume the drink, revealing a unique artwork designed by Sydney artist and illustrator, Dale Bigeni.
The flavour is rich, intense and robust, and is markedly different to the more established coffee liqueur brands.
Sip it neat on ice or in an Espresso Martini by using 40 ml of Mr Black, 20 ml of your favourite vodka, 1” lime zest and giving it a good shake. Alternatively, try it in a Black Negroni, with 20ml of Mr Black, 20ml of gin, 15 ml of Campari and 10ml of sweet vermouth. Stir it in a tumbler with grapefruit zest.
Mr Black Coffee Liqueur is bottled at 25% ABV and comes in a keepsake 700ml bottle.
