The Old Fashioned in Rye No 3 Cocktail is part of the G7 Cocktails, a series of 7 unique cocktail recipes created by some of the best bartenders in Sydney specifically for our sister website Gourmantic’s 7th Birthday celebrations.
The Old Fashioned in Rye No 3 is created by Patrick Tully of Archie Rose Distillery and Bar in Rosebery using Archie Rose White Rye. Archie Rose is the first to open in Sydney over 160 years currently producing gin, vodka, white rye and whisky with a soon to be expanding portfolio.
Archie Rose White Rye is made from a high percentage of rye along with malted barley. The flavour profile of the unaged spirit is very smooth and creamy with a hint of a spice on the finish.
The Old Fashioned in Rye No 3 is a twist on a classic using Archie Rose White Rye, smoked and spiced maple syrup made with LP Meats smoked water, Canadian maple syrup infused with orange peel and cinnamon. The cocktail is textural and the white rye is omnipresent, lingering with sweetness of the maple with gentle smoke and a whisper of orange and spice. Patrick Tully has named it as such because a twist on a classic deserves a classic name. The cocktail is garnished with crispy maple-smoked bacon from LP Quality Meats.
Old Fashioned in Rye No 3 Cocktail Recipe

Ingredients
- 60 ml Archie Rose White Rye
- 15 ml smoked and spiced maple syrup
- 4 dashes Angostura bitters
Glassware: old fashioned glass
Garnish: crispy maple-smoked bacon from LP Quality Meats
Method
Add all ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice, stir and strain into an old fashioned glass with a block of ice. Garnish with crispy maple-smoked bacon.
