The Screwdriver is a two-ingredient cocktail made with vodka and fresh orange juice and served in a tall glass.
The Screwdriver is a simple mixed drink made by adding vodka to orange juice. It is often referred to as “vodka and orange” and has its own Drink Holiday on December 14. Think of it as a more basic version of the Harvey Wallbanger which the latter adds Galliano to the mix.
As simple as it sounds, like many drinks, there are many versions of its origins. One story attributes it back to the mid 1900’s and to foreign oil workers in the Persian Gulf who added vodka to their orange juice and being at work, they stirred it with a screwdriver hence the drink got its name.
If you’re looking for an easy to mix two-ingredient brunch cocktail, the Screwdriver is easy to prepare. We added a fresh fennel frond from the garden for an aromatic touch.
