The Balvenie Tun 1509 launched at The Balvenie Craft Bar, a four day pop-up whisky bar in Surry Hills.
The Balvenie Tun 1509 is a no age statement single malt, bottled at 47.1% ABV, non-chill-filtered, and made from 42 hand-selected casks, 35 American oak barrels and seven European sherry butts by Malt Master, David Stewart. The spirit is then transferred to Tun 1509 in Warehouse 24 and aged for several months.
Gold in colour, it has rich fruity aroma with a sherry nose and a hint of cinnamon and honey sweetness. Very smooth on the palate, rich and fruity with honey sweetness and soft cinnamon spice, oak, it lingers long on the palate – a fine and complex sipping dram that still retains The Balvenie character.
Only 200 bottles are available globally with about 60 bottles allocated to Australia, this is a collector’s dram if you can get your hands on a bottle. The Balvenie Tun 1509 is priced at $420 RRP.
