No doubt you’ve seen images of The Quarantini on social media of late, a cocktail described as “a regular Martini, but you drink it alone in your house”. This is our version, a vodka-based cocktail flavoured with a pantry ingredient.
We posted our cocktail on instagram under our #fridaynightmartiniritual and since our Friday Night Martini Ritual is always for two, we ensured this one is keeping a safe distance.
The Quarantini is a vodka-based Martini that gets an umami punch from an easy to make nori tincture. The tincture is simply prepared by infusing nori sheets in vodka then fine straining it into a glass jar. It keeps indefinitely in the freezer and can be used to flavour other savoury drinks.
Since you’ll be making a tincture and keeping it for future use, you can scale up the cocktail recipe to the quantities you like, pre-batch The Quarantini with dilution and store it in the freezer. Otherwise, when going through the Martini making ritual, add a little sea salt or a saline spray which brightens up the flavours.
The Quarantini is a drink best served super chilled or straight from the freezer.
