Valentine’s Day cocktails need not always be pretty pink or romantic red. Spice up this Valentine’s Day with the Agave You My Heart cocktail, a savoury, spicy and smoky agave-based drink guaranteed to turn up the heat.
The Agave You My Heart cocktail is a combination of reposado tequila, mezcal for a hint of smoke, citrus for brightness, red capsicum juice for a savoury note and Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur for a measure of heat. A sprinkle of sea salt binds everything together and highlights the savoury and chili notes.
The cocktail needs very little advance preparation but then, your Valentine is well worth it. All you need to prep is the red capsicum juice. Either use a juicer if you have one, or in a blender, blend the red capsicum with a splash of water and strain. The juice keeps in the fridge for up to 3 days.
To make the Agave You My Heart cocktail on Valentine’s Day, simply add all the ingredients in a shaker with ice, shake, strain into a chilled coupette. No garnish is required.
