Auchentoshan American Oak has launched into the Australian market with a #distilleddifferent campaign combining a cocktail competition with photography.
Auchentoshan American Oak (40%ABV) is a Lowlands single malt that bears no age statement, is triple distilled and matured exclusively in first fill ex-bourbon barrels.
Bright gold in colour, the nose exhibits freshness and ripe stone fruit upfront, mainly apricots with some vanilla followed by orange and zesty citrus. The brightness of the aromas carries to the palate. A first sip, the single malt is soft and smooth, albeit a little thin until flavours of vanilla, coconut, orange peel, stone fruit and soft spice develop mid palate. The finish is a little on the short side but the brightness of the fruity and sweeter notes makes it suitable as an entry level whisky or to use in cocktails.
Auchentoshan Distilled Different
As part of their Distilled Different Campaign, Beam Suntory have launched a cocktail competition combining mixology and photography. Australian bar teams are asked to create a cocktail using Auchentoshan American Oak that defines its personality.
Twelve finalists will be chosen and paired with one of three up and coming photographers scouted by art talent agency, Art Pharmacy Consulting, who will be tasked with capturing the distilled different essence of each team, creating a work of art and having it displayed in a travelling art exhibition, alongside their cocktail ‘work of art’. One team will officially be named the Auchentoshan Distilled Different Bar Team of the Year and along with their partnering photographer will win a trip to Glasgow, Scotland. The competition closes on 30 June 2106.
In the spirit of the competition, we created two cocktails which we shared on our instagram account here and here.
