The Lowlands single malt is bottled at 43% ABV and has no age statement.
At the heart of the whisky is the wood and the dram exhibits a delicious nuttiness. In the glass, the single malt has a rich amber colour. The nose is oaky, nutty, with some sugar almonds and cinnamon spice which develop on the palate into a fruity sponge cake, some nuttiness and balanced tannins. The triple distillation gives it smoothness at 43% ABV.
This whisky packs a lot of flavour and makes for some fine sipping. The finish is rewarding – long, oaky and nutty.
Not a newcomer to the travel retail category, Auchentoshan Heartwood has been available for some time and is well worth keeping an eye out for on your travels. A new packaging will be released in the next 3 to 6 months has will have info for consumers.
