The Australian Gin Awards 2020 were announced at The Barber Shop in Sydney with the event streamed on Facebook live on the evening of Monday 31st August.
Six Best in Class trophies were announced and presented to the winners by Awards Chairman Mike Enright. The Joint Best in Show trophy was awarded to two gins, Never Never Distilling Co Southern Strength Gin from South Australia and Ester Spirits Strong Gin from NSW, sharing the $5000 cash prize.
Australian Gin Awards 2020 Best in Class
Below are the ‘Best in Class’ winners in their respective categories:
- Best in Class – Classic Dry Gin: Never Never Distilling Co Southern Strength Gin
- Best in Class – Contemporary Gin: Imperial Measures Distilling Ounce ‘Signature’ Gin
- Best in Class – Matured Gin: The West Winds Gin Sur Lie Gin
- Best in Class – Old Tom Gin: Settlers Spirits Old Tom Gin
- Best In Class – Australian Navy Gin: Ester Spirits Strong Gin
- Best in Class – Flavoured Gin: The West Winds Wild Plum Gin
The Best Gin Bottle Design was awarded to Prohibition Navy Strength Gin, The design award was chaired by Linda Sultmann of Signwave Australia and sponsored by CCL with a $5000 product prize.
A total of 250 gins were judged across the six categories. Of these, 74% have been awarded a medal with 22 Gold, 67 Silver and 97 bronze.
