Monday 11 October 2021 marked ‘Freedom Day’ in Sydney as businesses and venues reopened after over 100 days of lockdown. Restrictions have lifted for those who are double vaccinated and patrons need to show proof of vaccination before entering venues.
Time Out Bar and Restaurant REVIVE Awards
The Time Out Bar & Restaurant Revive Awards launched on Wednesday October 6, 2021, inviting readers to cast their votes. Categories are divided between ‘IN’ (to recognise pivots, deliveries and community initiatives under lockdown) and ‘OUT’ (to salute the bars and restaurants readers can’t wait to get back into). Winners will be announced on Monday November 8.
Top 500 Bars 100 to 200 List
The list of the 100 to 200 in the Top 500 Bars in 2021 has been revealed. Digital date is gathered and processed by an algorithm to produce a weighted ranking of 500 bars. Here are the results for Australian bars:

New Laphroaig Distillery Manager
John Campbell has announced that he will step down as Laphroaig distillery manager after more than 25 years at the distillery. The longest-serving distillery manager in its history will be working closely with the distillery team to hand over the reins. A new distillery manager will be announced soon. (source)
