The Gresham in Brisbane is right at home in its 19th century residence bringing an impressive bourbon selection and a modern take to cocktails with a respectful nod to its heritage.
With its oak interior, dark tones and mood lighting, the bar is steeped in history with little touches waiting to be explored but the main attraction is the range of spirits on the back bar. There’s an extensive choice of American rye whiskies and bourbons among Scottish counterparts and rare drams such as Old Blowhard 26 yo Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey.
The 12-strong cocktail list makes use of dark spirits predominantly with twists on modern classics. Gresham Favourite cocktails also feature on the menu such as Death and Taxes, a combination Irish Whiskey, ginger, honey, apple, walnut and smoke. An evolving range of seasonal, local and international beers is available on tap which along with the impressive range of spirits, invites you to order a Boilermaker from the board menu or choose your whisk(e)y and have the bartender pair the beer.
On select nights, the Gresham opens the door to the back room, a stately room with a piano, long drapes, Chesterfield lounges, lamps and an imposing cabinet with trophies, exclusive and signed bottles as well as memorabilia from the original Gresham Hotel.
Warm and welcoming with an old-charm that draws you in, The Gresham takes its craft seriously and over the years has been home to some of this country’s best bartenders, many of whom have won national competitions.
This is the kind of bar where you go to catch up with friends over cocktails, sit back and relax over some of the finest whiskies or perch at the bar as you make your way through a Boilermaker – a bar with stellar service that makes you feel right at home.
