The Fresh Bramble Cocktail is an alternative version to the classic by Dick Bradsell. Here’s how to make it using fresh berries.
The Bramble was created by the late Dick Bradsell (also creator of the Espresso Martini) in London during the 1980s. The cocktail combines dry gin, lemon juice, sugar syrup with crème de mûre over crushed ice.
The Fresh Bramble cocktail is based on a recipe from Bartender’s Choice App (iTunes) by Sam Ross and the team behind New York City’s Attaboy, Diamond Reef and Milk & Honey. The app comes highly recommended particularity for the home bartender looking to expand their knowledge of classic cocktails.
The fresh berry version of Dick Bradsell’s cocktail subs muddled fresh blackberries for the traditional crème de mûre. It’s less sweet than the original but still fruity and refreshing, and an alternative version if you’re looking to cut down on sugar.
