Glenfiddich has launched the Glenfiddich Excellence 26 Year Old, a luxury expression and a new addition to the portfolio.
The cellar-like rooms of the historic home were an ideal setting to be immersed in the tasting experience. The event featured 26 images – one for each year of maturation – by renowned landscape photographer Simon Butterworth whose photographs told the story of oak from source to barrels.
Glenfiddich Excellence 26 Year Old (43% ABV) is matured exclusively in ex Bourbon American casks and is the first Glenfiddich malt to be matured this way. The casks were specially chosen for their distinct flavour and imported to the Dufftown distillery in Speyside.
Golden in colour, the whisky has a delicate nose that does not reveal its age with notable floral aromas and some vanilla notes. On the palate, it is rich with flavour, retaining the Glenfiddich character with a balance of fruity and floral notes along with dry tannins and a good measure of spice on the back palate. The finish is medium to long, warming and complex. A fine sipping dram that also makes for easy sipping.
The packaging is aligned with luxury. The whisky comes in an elegant glass bottle with gold lettering and a purple presentation box bearing an embossed design said to be inspired by the patterns made on wood cuts from the American Deep South.
Glenfiddich Excellence 26 Year Old has a recommended retail price of $590 AUD.
