Diageo Buys Aviation Gin
Diageo has announced that it is acquiring Aviation Gin from Ryan Reynolds and his partners at Davos Brands. According to this source, the deal includes an initial payment of US$335m, with a potential second payment of US$275m dependant on performance over the next 10 years. As part of the deal, Diageo is also set to acquire other brands in Davos Brands’ portfolio, including Astral Tequila and Sombra Mezcal.
Masks from Wasted Milk
Discarded Spirits, owned by William Grant & Sons has created reusable face masks from wasted milk. In partnership with Mi Terro, a company that extracts the casein protein molecules from the bacteria found in ‘bad’ milk, the firm then uses dynamic flow shear spinning to create sustainable fibres, which Discarded uses to create face masks. Discarded had previously launched its first product with Discarded Cascara Vermouth, made from leftover cascara berries, a by-product of coffee production. (source)
