The Lavender Collins is a gin-based cocktail that combines citrus with floral notes and is well suited to entertaining guests or making cocktails for a crowd.
The Collins cocktail family lends it self to many delicious variations. For the Lavender Collins, the combination of gin, lemon juice and syrup topped with soda gets a floral note from the lavender syrup which marries well with the citrus.
For the home bartender, the tall drink is simple to make and serve when entertaining guests or making cocktails for a crowd. The lavender syrup can be made in advance and stored in the fridge for up to one week.
Lavender Collins Recipe
Ingredients
- 60 ml gin
- 30 ml lemon juice
- 30 ml lavender syrup*
- soda water to top
Glassware: highball
Garnish: lavender bud
Method
In a cocktail shaker, add gin, lemon juice, lavender syrup over ice and shake hard. Strain into a chilled highball with ice cubes and add soda water to top. Garnish with a lavender bud.
* To make the lavender syrup, over gentle heat infuse 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar with 1 tablespoon of fresh lavender flowers. Fine strain and store in the fridge. It keeps for approximately 1 week.
