The Mando Moments cocktail combines lacto-fermented mandarin liqueur with gin in a sour style of drink that highlights the funky notes of the liqueur.
The recipe for Mando Moments combines the funky citrus flavour of Lacto-Fermented Mandarin Liqueur previously featured in a DIY Cocktail Project, along with gin and citrus. The shaken cocktail leans on the sour end of the flavour spectrum to put the lacto-fermented notes centre stage.
A London dry style of gin works well in this recipe as well as a gin with subtle floral notes that won’t dominate the liqueur. The oils from the mandarin rind expressed over the drink and run around the rim of the glass add an aromatic element with a bright citrus note. The cocktail is served “naked”, in other words, sans garnish but if you must, you could add an edible flower.
