How to make rosemary syrup for cocktails, a modifier infused with fresh rosemary.
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), also known as balm mint, sweet balm and bee’s leaf is a perennial evergreen shrub in the mint family. Native to the Mediterranean region, the drought-tolerant culinary herb has needle-like leaves and produces white and purple flowers in spring.
Rosemary Syrup Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup of fresh rosemary leaves, chopped
Method
In a small pan, heat the sugar, water and chopped rosemary until the sugar is dissolved. Bring to a simmer then remove from the heat, cover and leave to cool down. Strain the syrup into a swing top glass bottle and store in the fridge.
Use in cocktails such as Rosemary Gimlet, Old Fashioned
