How to make tarragon syrup for cocktails, a simple syrup infused with fresh French tarragon leaves.
French Tarragon (Artemisia dracunculus), also called estragon is an aromatic edible herb in the daisy family. The herbaceous perennial produces leaves that have an anise-like flavour and aroma.
Tarragon Syrup Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- leaves from 5 tarragon sprigs (washed and dried)
Method
In a small pan, combine the sugar and water and slowly bring to a boil, stirring all the time until the sugar dissolves. Simmer for one minute then remove from heat. Add the picked tarragon leaves and leave to steep for at least 15 minutes. Strain using a fine strainer and store in swing top glass bottle with a lid in the fridge.
