The Serious Moonlight cocktail is our entry into the Home Bar Awards February challenge which is a tribute to David Bowie.
As we’ve previously mentioned, the Home Bar Awards is a year long contest which takes place solely on instagram. Every month a challenge is set. January was “show us your home bar” and the February challenge is a tribute to David Bowie.
The Serious Moonlight cocktail takes inspiration from the White Manhattan and derives its name from the lyrics of ‘Let’s Dance’, and the Serious Moonlight tour.
We’ve used unaged moonshine as the base spirit and stirred it down with white vermouth and orange bitters and served it in an absinthe rinsed coupette. The absinthe rinse adds a fresh, herbaceous element and cuts down a little on the sweetness.
In keeping with the theme, the Serious Moonlight Cocktail is served up in a coupette with an ice sphere depicting the moon and sprinkled with edible pearl dust.
