Substation No 41 Rum is a molasses-based rum that has been matured for a minimum of two years in oak barrels. The bottle takes inspiration from the bar after which it is named and the label resembles the rum tags used at the Substation No. 41 Rum Bar incorporating an electric wiring that pays homage to the bar’s origins as an electrical station. Each bottle is also inscribed with the Breakfast Creek Hotel (BCH) logo serving as a stamp of approval by the landmark Brisbane hotel.
Clear amber in colour, Substation No. 41 Rum is rich with vanilla and toffee aromas with some Christmas fruitcake and a hint of oak. Creamy on the palate, it has hints of butterscotch, cinnamon spice and honey though it is not overly sweet. There is good length in the finish with lingering warmth and spice.
Substation No. 41 Rum can be enjoyed neat or in drinks such as the Summer Storm Cocktail with ginger beer and lime wedges.
