The Vietnamojito is a Southeast Asian take on the classic Mojito cocktail using spiced rum, Vietnamese mint, coconut and lemongrass.
As the name suggests, the Vietnamojito is a Southeast Asian take on the classic rum cocktail. Spiced rum is combined with lime juice, flavoured syrup a splash of soda water and served tall over ice. The recipe calls for Vietnamese mint and coconut syrup, an easy to make modifier using coconut water and Vietnamese mint. In keeping with the theme, the cocktail is garnished with a a hollowed out lemongrass stalk for a straw and a Vietnamese mint sprig.
The Vietnamojito is light and refreshing and makes an ideal drink to sip in the afternoon during the summer heat. The syrup is easy for the home bartender to make and Vietnamese mint and lemongrass can be sourced from Asian green grocers. Alternatively, they’re easy herbs to grow at home in an edible garden.
