The Woolworth Cocktail is a modern creation that can be described as a whisky Martini with a nod to the Bobby Burns.

According to The PDT Cocktail Book: The Complete Bartender’s Guide from the Celebrated Speakeasy, the cocktail is named after the Woolworth building which was once the tallest building in New York City. The recipe below by John Deragon in 2007 has the same ratios as those in Mr Boston Official Bartender’s Guide but uses manzanilla sherry in lieu of palo cortado or fino sherry as per the latter.
2oz. compass Box Asyla Blended Scotch Whisky
1 oz. Lustau Manzanilla Sherry
.5 oz. Bénédictine
2 dashes House Orange Bitters
A cross between a whisky Martini and the Bobby Burns, albeit a dry version, the Woolworth cocktail is sure to hit the right notes with sherry fans. In our version, we dialled back the D.O.M. Bénédictine for a drier finish.
