The Dubliner Cocktail is a modern classic, created by the late Gary Regan in 1999 for St. Patrick’s Day and features in Gary Regan’s The Joy of Mixology: The Consummate Guide to the Bartender’s Craft. Essentially a Manhattan variation, the cocktail calls for Irish whiskey in place of rye or bourbon. Grand Marnier adds an orange note and the stirred drink is garnished with a green maraschino cherry.
In the recipe below, we’ve used the same specs as in Mr. Boston: Official Bartender’s & Party Guide which specifies a flamed orange twist as garnish and used a green olive as garnish.
Dubliner Cocktail Recipe
Ingredients
- 60ml Irish whiskey
- 15ml Grand Marnier
- 15ml sweet vermouth
- 3 dashes orange bitters
Glassware: coupette
Garnish: flamed orange twist / green olive
Method
Add Irish whiskey, Grand Marnier, sweet vermouth and orange bitters in a mixing glass over ice. Stir until chilled. Strain into a chilled coupette and garnish with a flamed orange twist / green olive.
