Gin-Gin Mule is a refreshing carbonated drink that marries the botanicals in gin with a touch of spice.
Created in 2000 by Audrey Saunders of New York City’s Pegu Club (closed in 2020), the Gin-Gin Mule is in essence a Gin Mojito lengthened with ginger beer.
While the mule is often associated with vodka, gin is the base spirit and opens up a great number of flavours from the botanicals. The addition of mint and ginger results in a refreshing and easy drinking cocktail that can be enjoyed at any time. For a flavour variation, use a spicy ginger beer such as one with chilli or capsicum.
Saunders’ recipe uses her own ginger beer which is shaken with the cocktail. In this recipe, ginger beer is added after the other ingredients are shaken.
