Jack Daniel’s 27 Gold Tennessee Whiskey is a spirit made available to the travel retail market in the Asia Pacific region. The whiskey is a premium expression of the popular Old No.7 Tennessee that undergoes a second maturation. This means it is made from the same mash bill as Old No.7, 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye, filtered by passing it through maple charcoal, then matured in new, charred oak barrels.
Instead of being bottled at this stage, No. 27 Gold is finished in maple wood barrels and charcoal mellowed for a second time before bottling. The second round of maturation takes place in golden-hued maple barrels which give the whiskey its distinctive character.
The liquid has an ABV of 40%, is golden honey in colour and on the nose, it has a aromas of maple syrup, honey, ripe bananas, raisins and spiced fruit. Creamy and viscous on the palate, there is a hint of toasted oak, vanilla, maple notes. Mild spice mainly cinnamon and nutmeg develop on the palate along with a banana note. The whiskey lingers with sweet maple notes and a warming finish. This is a sweeter style of Tennessee whiskey with dessert-like flavours which suits those with a sweeter palate. For fans of Old No. 7, this expressions is better suited to cocktails than sipping neat or on ice.
Jack Daniel’s 27 Gold Tennessee Whiskey comes in a 700ml bottle encased in elegant gold packaging.
