Widges Gin
Jason Williams, Creative Director of Proof & Company visited Sydney to launch his own brand of gin. Widges Gin which bears his nickname and likeness is a London Dry Gin (41.5% ABV) distilled in a copper pot still at Langley Gin Distillery in England and bottled in Singapore. The juniper-forward gin is distilled using coriander seed, angelica root, orris, cardamom, orange peel, lemon peel and nutmeg. Widges Gin is a vibrant London Dry Gin with pronounced citrus notes and is well suited to Martinis, Gin Sours and spirit forward cocktails.
Bacardi Legacy Australia Announces Top 3
Bacardi Legacy Australia has announced the Three Most Promising at a cocktail party held at Maybe Sammy. Natalie Ng, Adam Dow and Mikey Braun will be progressing through to the National Final in the 2019/2020 Bacardi Legacy Global Cocktail Competition. The national final will be held in February 2020 and the winner will represent Australia at the Bacardi Legacy Global Final in Miami.
Mr Black Single Origin Colombia
Mr Black has added a new and limited Single Origin product line from Colombia using ‘honey’ processed beans, nurtured by Luis Anibal of Finca Villa Betulia, near Huila in Colombia. The specifically selected Colombian coffee experiences light natural fermentation before processing, giving it “little natural coffee funk, balanced with notes of figs, chocolate, and dark berries.”
Mr Black Single Origin Colombia has delicate flavours with natural sweetness, fruitiness and dried figs. It is made more for sipping than mixing though it works perfectly in the Cattura Old Fashioned here.
Matthew McConaughey to Launch Wild Turkey With Thanks
Matthew McConaughey will visit Australia this November to launch Wild Turkey With Thanks, an initiative designed to support and celebrate Australia’s unique wildlife and wilderness. He has partnered with Australian travel start-up, Unyoked, to design and launch an off-the-grid cabin that will encourage more Australians to reconnect with the wild.
McConaughey will be the design director on the construction of The Reserve by Wild Turkey x Unyoked, to ensure the cabin aligns to Wild Turkey’s commitment to their craft. A percentage of the proceeds generated from the cabin and $1 from every bottle of Longbranch sold in November and December will be donated to Unyoked’s charity partner, the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife.

Circumstance Distillery Unveils ‘World’s First’ AI Gin
Circumstance Distillery in the UK has created what is thought to be the world’s first gin using artificial intelligence (AI), called Monker’s Garkel. The AI was trained by the team to analyse thousands of botanicals, understand gin recipes and learn a database of more than 500 gin names and the label was made using an automated algorithm. (source)
