The Amaro Week cocktail series continues with The Bitter Smoke Cocktail, a riff on the Hanky Panky.
Of all the Amari, Fernet-Branca is arguably the most divisive, hitting the top end of the bitter scale. Known as the bartenders’ handshake, it’s often enjoyed as a shot, preferably icy cold.
The Bitter Smoke Cocktail pays homage to a bartender who once made us this off the menu cocktail, when we asked for “something smoky, bitter and stirred”. We’re calling it The Bitter Smoke, a riff on the classic Hanky Panky using mezcal instead of gin. ⠀
