The Amaro Week cocktail series continues with The Montevit Cocktail, an amaro cocktail with housemade aquavit.
The Montevit cocktail is based on “The Occidental” from The PDT Cocktail Book which was created by Nate Dumas. In his recipe, he uses Linie Aquavit with Amaro Nonino and a Fernet-Branca rinse. Here, we’ve used our own housemade Aquavit with Amaro Montenegro and without the Fernet rinse. You can find the recipe for how to make aquavit here.
Our Aquavit was made with the usual caraway and dill and includes citrus peel along with other botanicals. The citrus notes in the aquavit played very nicely with the orange and vanilla notes of Amaro Montenegro. We’ve called it The Montevit.
