Located twenty-two floors above Sydney’s CBD, Dean & Nancy on 22 is a hotel bar with an unparalleled experience that takes you back time.
Created by the award winning team behind Maybe Frank, Maybe Sammy and Sammy Junior, Dean and Nancy on 22 is located on level 22 of A by Adina Hotel in Sydney CBD. Step out of the lift, up a spiral staircase and be prepared for an experience like no other.
The piano at the entrance sets the scene. With a black and gold colour scheme, black marble tables, gold and brass accents and bartenders clad in smart, burgundy jackets, Dean and Nancy on 22 is a moody hotel bar that channels another era.
If you’ve been to any of the Maybe Group venues before, then you’d know that they set the bar high, not only in the quality of the cocktails but in the level of service and the meticulous attention to detail.
The recently-launched ‘Around the World’ cocktail menu is presented concertina style and themed around exploration and travel. It features 12 cocktails inspired by iconic landmarks which the fictitious characters Dean & Nancy have visited from Raffles in Singapore to the Taj Mahal in India.
The tribute to the Greek island of Santorini comes in the form of Thera with its vivid blue colour and white foam. Citrusy and refreshing, the cocktail combines chamomile-infused gin with blue Curaçao, yuzu sake and falernum with an olive foam.
Presented in a hand-made shell reminiscent of mezcal cups, La Casa Azul combines tonka bean infused tequila with Ancho Reyes Rojo and guava soda to deliver a light, refreshing and fruity drink with tropical fruit notes and hints of vanilla.
Basquiat, a take on the Mahnattan featuring coconut oil fat-washed Michters Rye Whiskey, Cocchi Di Torino Vermouth, a hint of smoke from Talisker 10 Whisky, Cherry Heering and cocoa bitters, garnished with a tempered chocolate triangle painted with colours.
Giza adds an element of fun by having the coffee cocktail presented in a conical glass inspired by the pyramids of Egypt with a foam added for theatrics. The drink combines vodka with Mr Black Coffee Liqueur, Lagavulin 16 yo, hibiscus burnt honey, raspberry and Sammy Junior Filter Coffee. The result is a lingering smoky Espresso Martini with notes of raspberry on the finish.
