Never Never Dark Series Med Gin
Never Never Distilling Co.’s latest bottling is Med Gin, a Dark Series expression that promotes the fresh local produce found around the distillery’s new home in the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. For this limited release, they have partnered with local growers in McLaren Vale to create a gin style that celebrates South Australia’s own little slice of the Mediterranean.
They sourced Somerton almonds from Taronga, Lloyd Brothers Kalamata olives and McMillian and Drew herbs which include lemon thyme, thyme, bay leaf and basil as well as locally foraged Oleria Axillaris (coastal daisy bush).
Aromas of sea spray, fresh herbs, kalamata olive/olive flesh and lightly dried florals precede a layered gin with creamy marzipan, citrus and olive oils balanced with a salty wave from the olive brine. The profile leans towards a savoury expression, orange and foraged sea daisy lends a splash of freshness, complementing the dry finish.
Never Never Dark Series Med Gin (41% ABV) is priced at RRP $65.
