Fancy Free bar, a new venture by Black Pearl alumni Rob Libecans, Chris Hysted-Adams, Matthew Stirling and Ryan Noreiks is coming to Melbourne CBD later in 2018.
The team at Fancy Free bar will bring to Melbourne a simple concept in a venue aimed at being a neighbourhood bar, in the heart of the CBD where cocktails, wine, beer and food will each have a special place.
The team had met at the Black Pearl, a revered Melbourne institution that has won Best International Cocktail Bar at the Spirited Awards, but it has been some time since the four have worked together. Matthew Stirling (Cookie, Joe’s) and Chris Hysted-Adams (former Ketel One and Diageo World Class Brand Ambassador) have been at the helm of Black Pearl, helping guide the cocktail institution to great international success. Rob Libecans was a driving force at London venue White Lyan (Spirited Awards, World’s Best New Bar 2014) before taking on a trade advocacy role with Bacardi in the UK. After immersing himself in the Chinese hospitality industry for 2 years, Ryan Noreiks headed up the Lark in Brisbane for 5 years and is now working at Melbourne cocktail bar, Romeo Lane.
Before launching Fancy Free Bar, the team will be touring across the country showcasing their skills at teaser events, with collaborators at Dark Mofo (TAS), Mary’s (SYD), Saville Row (QLD), and Ramblr (VIC).
The team have also established a drinks agency, ‘Seven Ounces’, which focuses on corporate events, creative activation solutions and drinks consultancy.
