Reign at the QVB is an opulent late night bar and champagne parlour located in Sydney’s Queen Victoria Building.
Reign at the QVB is the sister venue to Esquire Drink + Dine, another late night bar and restaurant situated in the heart of Sydney’s CBD.
The venue is set amongst lush marble, brass and soft musk tones, and framed by a Romanesque arch window overlooking Town Hall. If Esquire could be described as dark, moody and masculine, Reign is bright and light with a palette of soft pinks that has feminine appeal.
With a selection of over 150 champagne and sparkling wines, Reign is primarily a champagne bar but with a cocktail offering well worth exploring.
“Champagne is definitely the queen on the menu in Reign,” says Matt Beaumont, Group General Manager of Beverage, Trippas White Group. “We’re using the this in a number of ways like the champagne syrup for de Nonancourt and the accompaniment in Eleanor, Petite Margarite and the Old Cuban.”
Reign has a focus on using as many Aussie products as possible with gin, whiskey, amaro and vermouth as heroes. From the ‘New Flavours’ cocktail list, The Hummingbird marries Young’s Noble Cut Gin with St Germain Elderflower Liqueur, lemongrass, citrus and lavender bitters. “As a symbol it was selected as a bird of royalty, but it also represents charm, joy, life, appreciation, independence, freedom and optimism. Everything we want you to experience when you visit Reign,” says Beaumont.
De Nonancourt brings together Tried & True Vodka with Esprit de Figues liqueur, Champagne syrup, grapefruit and cucumber. For something a little more adventurous, Just Fantasy combines peppercorn-infused blanco tequila and Cocchi Americano Rosa with rhubarb and grapefruit soda, garnished with dehydrated grapefruit and sheet music.
Classic cocktails are dubbed as The Indispensables and feature sparkling options such as the French 75, an Australian Negroni with Okar Amaro, and the Charlie Chaplin. A selection of vermouths and amari mirrors the list at Esquire, taking the palate from low abv aperitif drinks to after dinner digestives.
Guests can expect a personalised style of service if that’s the experience they seek. “If you are trying our ‘Spotlight Producer’ Champagne flight, one of our sommeliers will come to your table and guide you through that experience. Or if you’re simply looking for an after-work drink – cocktails, Champagne or beers – we got you,” says Beaumont.
Reign at the QVB is open daily from 11 am till late.
