Highlander Bar, a new whisky focused bar takes up residence at Sir Stamford Sydney in the heart of the CBD, joining the likes of The Doss House and The Baxter Inn.
Sir Stamford at Circular Quay is no stranger to the whisky world. The hotel has played host to several whisky events over the years, be it the annual whisk(e)y shows or the more regular whisky and cheese tastings. For the relaunch of its bar, Sir Stamford has partnered with whisky expert David Ligoff, co-founder of World of Whisky in Double Bay and owner of Alchemist Events which specialises in whisky-themed functions.
The Highlander Bar’s extensive whisky menu spans the various regions of Scotland, across to Ireland, Japan, Taiwan, USA and Australia. Furthermore, locals and hotel guests can look forward to The Whisky of the Month, showcased in the centre of the bar and served with tasting notes. Rare and scarce whiskies will be available such as the Highlander Inn, a limited-edition single cask bottling of a 20-year-old Ben Nevis.
Education and entertainment are also at the forefront of The Highlander Bar with the Bi-Monthly Whisky Master Classes. Themed tastings such as ‘Malts in the Movies’, a masterclass that focuses on product placement of malt whiskies in film, are set to make whisky more fun and approachable. For those who prefer a more classic approach, the ‘Whisky Old Enough to Order Itself’ class is a celebration of all 18 year old whiskies.
For a high tea experience, The Whisky High Tea offers a flight of three Chivas Regal expressions paired with savoury bites and sweet whisky-infused treats.
The Highlander Bar is located at Sir Stamford Hotel Sydney and is open daily from 11 am.
