Ozone Bar at The Ritz-Carlton in Hong Kong releases Five Elements Cocktail Menu by Bar Manager Oscar Mena.
Situated on the 118th floor of The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong in the International Commerce Centre in Kowloon, Ozone is a rooftop sky bar overlooking Victoria Harbour, a location that claims to be the highest bar in the world. In addition to their traditional cocktail offerings, Ozone Bar Manager Oscar Mena has created the Five Elements Cocktail Menu named after the five essential elements: Water, Metal, Wood, Fire and Earth.
Each cocktail is designed to resemble the essence, colour and flavour of its represented element. Water evokes the ocean with its soft blue hue and garnish of pearl-like yoghurt bubbles in an oyster shell. The vodka and sake based cocktail makes use of coconut water and umami bitters which give the drink a savoury note.
Beautifully presented in a metallic vessel, the gin-based Metal balances citrus notes with sparkling kombucha and lemon juice, and the sweeter notes of Italicus and umeshu.
With a base of barred-aged Alipus Mezcal, Wood hints at smoky overtones. The mezcal is stirred with Fernet Hunter, a bitter liqueur with aromas of lavender and citrus, and balanced with dashes of chocolate bitters.
Earth channels the scent of the forest after the rain. Shiitake mushroom-infused rum is mixed with Seedlip Garden, non-alcoholic spirit and pandan syrup which impart floral notes. The cocktail is presented on ice in a ceramic mug.
The whisky-based Fire, spiced up with Thai chilli tincture, brings together carrot, blood orange and floral notes of St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur.
Ozone’s Five Elements Cocktail Menu invites guests to start their journey with the savoury notes of Water or the refreshing Metal priming the palate for the smoky Wood and spicy Fire, finishing on a sweeter note with Earth.
